Get financial data for your research table

QVeris connects company research workflows to financial statement tools. Start with a company and reporting period, retrieve available data, and turn the returned fields into a sourced table. Explore the as-reported financial statements capability to see the accepted inputs for annual or quarterly requests.

A practical first task is to compare two annual periods for one company. Keep the statement labels and reporting currency beside each value so revenue, assets and operating cash flow remain interpretable. The goal is a small table a reviewer can trace, rather than a dense spreadsheet with unexplained numbers.

When your workflow needs standardized names across companies, inspect a route designed for standardized statements. As-reported data may preserve company-specific concepts; it does not promise that every issuer uses identical field names.

Keep the three statements distinct

StatementWhat it describesComparison rule
Income statementActivity over a reporting periodCompare equivalent annual or quarterly periods.
Balance sheetFinancial position at a reporting dateTreat values as dated stocks, not period flows.
Cash flow statementCash movements over a reporting periodCheck whether figures are quarterly or year-to-date.

A date printed on a response does not tell you everything about its period. Keep the fiscal year, period label, start/end dates where available and filing or acceptance time. When comparing companies, confirm whether fiscal years close in the same month before presenting their results as directly comparable.

Retrieve two annual periods

Use the selected tool’s inspected parameters for an initial company request:

json
{
  "symbol": "AAPL",
  "limit": 2,
  "period": "annual"
}

This object specifies the request, not a guarantee that two complete filings will be returned. After execution, inspect the periods actually present. Keep a link or identifier for the source filing when it is available; if it is absent, say so rather than generating a plausible-looking filing URL.

Use the FMP developer reference for upstream product context and the SEC EDGAR API reference when checking US filing data. QVeris access and upstream direct-access arrangements are separate.

Build a comparison that keeps its meaning

Before calculating growth, align currency, scale and reporting periods. A number expressed in millions should not be compared with an unscaled currency amount. Keep missing or unrecognized concepts as unavailable; do not infer that an absent line item equals zero.

For a simple revenue comparison, use (new period / old period − 1) only after confirming comparable definitions and a meaningful nonzero base. Negative or zero bases require a different explanation. For balance sheet values, describe the change between dates instead of referring to a period’s total activity.

Restatements can change prior values. Store the filing version used in your analysis and distinguish “latest available reporting” from “what was known at an earlier date”. A historical backtest that uses a later revision can introduce information unavailable at the original decision time.

Connect financials to your company workflow

Resolve the company through the company profile workflow before joining multiple datasets. Add company news when you need context around a reporting event, keeping reported facts separate from news interpretation.

For automated ingestion, use the Python request pattern and adapt the parameters to the financial statement route. Check QVeris usage pricing before expanding the number of companies and periods. The task below starts with one company and asks for a traceable result.

Frequently asked questions

Are annual and quarterly figures interchangeable?

No. Match the period and check year-to-date versus single-quarter definitions before comparing or aggregating.

Does a statements API provide investment recommendations?

It supplies data for analysis. A financial conclusion still requires context, methodology and review.

Compare two years of AAPL financials

Open the prefilled QVeris task to retrieve two available annual periods for AAPL. The result will organize identifiable revenue, net income, total assets and operating cash flow with fiscal periods, units, currency and filing references.

Use QVeris to inspect an as-reported financial statements capability for AAPL and retrieve two available annual periods. Build a compact table of revenue, net income, total assets and operating cash flow only where the returned concepts can be identified. Include fiscal periods, units, currency and filing references when available. Explain missing fields, scale differences and any restatement ambiguity. Respond in English.
